RAISE

RAISE (Reach, Aspire, Inspire, Serve, Empower) is Sask Girls United’s leadership-intensive mentorship program for youth ages 14–18. This program runs from September to April and connects participants with dedicated mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and real-world leadership experience.

A small, selected group of youth are chosen to take part in this immersive experience. Participants meet monthly for two-hour group sessions focused on topics such as public speaking, board governance, leadership, and more.

These sessions combine learning with practice as participants will have opportunities to apply their new skills through hands-on activities and mentorship discussions.

Program Goals

  • Develop leadership and communication skills through mentorship and practice.

  • Support youth in personal, academic, and professional growth.

  • Create meaningful mentor-mentee relationships rooted in trust and empowerment.

  • Encourage youth to become active leaders and changemakers in their communities.

The program includes:
  • Monthly RAISE Sessions (2 hours each) on skill-building topics.

  • One-on-one mentorship with a volunteer mentor.

  • Practical leadership activities to put learning into action.

  • A small scholarship awarded to participants for their active engagement and commitment.

Through RAISE, youth not only gain valuable leadership experience but also join a network of peers and mentors who inspire and support one another every step of the way.

Sask Girls United exists in the traditional and ancestral territories of the Cree, Saulteaux, Sioux, Dene, who are – to varying extents - part of Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 in Saskatchewan. These lands are also the homeland of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan, formerly the Blackfoot Confederacy, and many Indigenous urban communities and individuals. SGU is committed to advancing Reconciliation, and we recognize that everyone plays a role in this journey toward collective healing.
